Christmas in the Kitchen

"The children were nestled all snug in their beds; while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads" (Clement Moore). This peppermint paradise in the kitchen will bring to life all of your sugary Christmas dreams.

This home's kitchen has beautiful high ceilings. To complement the open feel of the room, peppermint garlands were hung on the tops of the cabinets and pantry. The oversized peppermints placed through out the garlands adds a whimsical twist on the everyday Christmas Decor. The bold and bright reds, whites and greens pop against the darker wood grain. 

The shelf above the cook top is perfect to display these Gingerbread houses and trees. A little village like this could also be placed on an island or bar. 

Ribbon, balls and florals are the 3 key ingredients for this decorated garland.

The base is a faux green pine garland, layered with a red and green ball garland wired in, ribbon loops and tails, large peppermints, shatterproof plaid balls, red poinsettias and peppermint striped curly sprays to complete the look. The garland is secured with wire tied to nails on the top of the cabinets, the nails are not seen when the garland is removed.

Quick tip: The garlands can be stored completely decorated in large Christmas tree storage bags. Then a little fluffing will be needed as they are hung the next season. 

The large island has plenty of room to display the small decorated tree and cooking Santa. The Santa and Tree are big enough to make a statement, but still leave plenty of space on the island to prep and cook. Quick Tip: this small table top tree can be stored completely decorated in a large box or Christmas Tree storage bag. 

Entry ways are the perfect opportunity to hang a festive sign or wreath. A Christmas wreath was hung over this entrance from the kitchen into the dining room. Our favorite part of this wreath is the Mark Robert's Baking Fairy. 

Balls and Ornaments are not just for hanging in the tree. You can fill an everyday container with Christmas balls, ornaments and garlands to place on your table, bar, island, bookcase etc. This is a great way to display your favorite decorations. Quick Tip: Add some sparkling battery operated lights to make it shine. 

Another simple way to feature beautiful ornaments, figurines, village pieces etc is by using a glass dome and stand. For this home, a Gingerbread Tree was featured, and a peppermint striped bow was added to complete the look. 

We love centerpieces for the dining room tables. There are endless options on what to use to decorate. This home used a wooden base to hold faux greenery, paper whites and red berry florals with simple red and white polka dot bows. 

Quick Tip: Faux greenery and florals do not require watering, so it is a great investment to use from year to year.

Quick Tip: This centerpiece may be used through February by adding Valentine hearts. 

We already know that people tend to hang out in the kitchen naturally, but with decor like this, they will never leave!
